RESIZING & REPAIRS
Each Nine Lives piece is handmade in sterling silver: built to last, but not indestructible. Below you’ll find how I handle resizing and repairs. Please always contact me before sending anything back.
RESIZING ᯓ★
To request a resize, please email info@ninelivesjewellery.com with your order number, clear photos of the piece and its packaging, and the new size you require before sending anything back.
Once approved:
- A resizing fee applies for both collection and custom pieces (unless the error was on my side).
- The customer is responsible for returning the piece unworn, in its original condition and packaging within 14 days.
- Once resizing is complete, I’ll cover the shipping back to you.
- Before requesting a resize it is required that you get your finger/s professionally sized by a local jewellery shop. It takes minutes, is usually free and is the easiest way to ensure accurate sizing. This will prevent having to get resized a second time.
Collection pieces
Exchanges depend on availability. Because each design is limited to nine, if your size is sold out you may:
- Exchange for another variation of the same piece (if available),
- Choose a different piece of equal value, or
- Receive store credit.
Custom designs
The same process applies. A resizing fee will still apply if the wrong size was provided. All custom orders are required to get professionally sized before placing the order.
Please note: Not every ring can be resized. Thick bands, stone settings, or major size changes may require remaking the piece. If the original is unworn and can be resold, I’ll work with you on an exchange or credit.
REPAIRSᯓ★
To request a repair on your piece, please email info@ninelivesjewellery.com with your order number, clear photos of the issue and explanation of your experience. Once approved, you are responsible for getting the piece to me within 14 days. I'll cover shipping back to you.
- Within 9 months of purchase: Repairs are free if there’s a fault in craftsmanship (e.g. a solder join coming loose, a lose stone ect).
- After 9 months: A modest repair fee will apply for normal wear and tear.
What I cover:
- Loose or broken solder joins
- Stone settings that need tightening
- Chain or clasp repairs / replacements
- Professional refinishing (scratch removal, reshaping, or restoring a “first shine” finish – fees apply)
What I don’t cover:
- Lost items or single earrings
- Major damage from accidents or misuse (e.g. bent from gym equipment, snapped from force)
- Severe chemical damage (bleach, chlorine) or deep structural damage that requires a remake.
POLISHING AND CLEANINGᯓ★
To request polishing & cleaning on your piece, start the process by emailing info@ninelivesjewellery.com with clear photos of the piece and how you would like it to be cleaned.
Scratches and marks are part of the story of a lived-in piece. However, if you want to refresh your piece, I offer the following:
- Lifetime Free Polishing: Every Nine Lives Jewellery piece comes with free polishing for life. This means I’ll remove tarnish and bring back its shine using professional polishing and ultrasonic cleaning. It does not remove deep scratches or dents.
- Refinishing Services: For deeper scratches, dents, or reshaping, I offer additional refinishing at a modest fee. This returns the piece closer to its first shine but still respects the handcrafted nature of the design.
A NOTE ON TARNISHING ᯓ★
Sterling silver is solid all the way through - unlike plated jewellery, which eventually wears down to reveal a base metal. Over time, sterling silver naturally reacts with air, moisture, skincare products, and even your skin’s chemistry, forming a surface layer known as tarnish.
Tarnish can appear as a yellowish film, a dull grey tone, or even black patches. Some people’s skin is more acidic, which can cause silver to darken more quickly.
The good news: tarnish is never permanent. It only affects the surface and can always be cleaned / polished away - either at home with warm soapy water (mild dish soap) and a soft toothbrush, a soft cloth on the dry piece or professionally by me.
For tips on slowing down tarnish and caring for your jewellery, see the Care, Wear and Tear page.
